Gloucester 06 November 2006 at 17:11:54 (GMT)

The site is good, but far too stuffy and formal. I've always found people in Gloucester have a great sense of humour, its just a shame that the official council website takes itself far too seriously.

sam
glos(linden)

I agree with everyone the sites great the skatepark is amazing but we desperately need cameras and lights there becos it will get vandalized and people will have a risk of getting beaten up.

lewis webb
glos (tuffley)

new skate park is ace could be a little bit better, but still better then nothing. should move coney hill mini ramp down there too. needs some cameras put up tho its like gangster vill down there.

gareth
gloucester

the new cienam near debenhams sounds cool, beats a long treck to southgate street

Dave
gloucester

the new Gloucester skatepark looks lovely and all but why put it in the worst area of gloucetser, everyone knows how bad it is around there, so presummably you want us to go there, get our bikes stolen, us get mugged and beaten up just to ride somewhere decent.  besides id  like to bet it will get vandalised withing a day or two.

it looks like the beecham report may creep into england from wales at this rate.. then wheres the city councils future ?!

Joe
Gloucester - 05 September 2006 at 11:04:49 (GMT)

Those links are fine if they are properly publicised and not hidden away from those who might ask awkward questions which the council would rather not have to address. I hope there is an easy to follow path to them from the council's main website (I can't see one to either), and that they start to receive the level of traffic appropriate for a city seeing such change?

Joe

I was a 'boarder' at Paddock House [King's School] between 1971-1976 and was fascinated to view the 'Pitt St. Conservation Area Appraisal, July 2005'Document on your Website. What a well constructed and useful 'paper'. I was so pleased to see such aesthetic sensibility being exhibited compared to the - at times - disasterous town planning of the last 50 years in Gloucester. Well done to the producers of the document! May its recomendations come to fruition.

Tom Page
Canterbury Kent - 28 April 2006 at 11:58:52 (GMT)

We have a Mercury Truck made in Gloucester which was built in 1938. We think they were used on fighter airfields in WW11 to taxi the fighter planes out for take off. They couldn't drive out because the propellor was so big and the nose of the plane stuck in the air so they had no forward vision. It was also used by BOAC as a baggage towing truck. We have had the truck for 15 years and We dont know much more about it or the company, so if anyone knows please help!!! Thanks.

The area around the bus station and Kings Square is an absolute embarresment to the city. Why not get some of that redevolpment money, flatten the lot and start again?

I'm with Natalie, the entire city just needs a general clean up. The people are lovely and it is an exciting buzzing place, but it just needs to be cleaned up and brought into the new century.

Webmaster: Gloucester City Council spend over £1 million each year on keeping the City clean, and will shortly be embarking upon a further cleanup campaign, as part of the peoples budget 2006 -

natalie
sheffield england - 16 February 2006 at 23:20:02 (GMT)

The city centre could do with a revamp, the bus station is very unwelcoming, dirty, strewn with litter, beggars & pigeons every where, not a very good first impression.

Hello, I Like The site, but It could do with more information. The Gl1 pages are completely invalid and are not up-to date. However, I do find the public services good. I own an Award Winning Political Site For Under Sixteens! I am 12 (on feb 18th 2006)and have made it with my other friend Oliver.

Webmaster: The GL1 website can be found using the following link:.  We aim to ensure that the website is always kept up to date and accurate.

Hello my name is page, Well I think you should build a theme park near Gloucester. Because I have to travel for 2 hours to get to alton towers. If you built a theme park near Gloucester it would be amazing but you just can't be bothered. So just think about it !!!!!!

I feel Hillfield Gardens in London Road should be publicised in your 'out and about' guide for Gloucester. Is is a beautiful garden that has very rare trees, so much history and several historic monuments that I am sure would be of interest to any person visiting or living in Gloucester.

Hi. My family roots come from Gloucester. I paid a very quick visit in 2004 and realised that I should spend some time there to research my ancestors. My GGG Grandfather, Stephen Franklin, was a Captain of a tug-boat 'Ruby'. My cousin and I intend to revisit Gloucester this year. If you any anyone else has any ideas as to where we should conduct our research please contact me. Thanks. Allan

I was brought up in Gloucester, and was married at St. Peter's R.C. Church. My husband, Rudy and me lived in Gloucester, and eventually our daughter was born in Gloucester. As a child, and teen, I visited Bishop Hoopers Lodging house often! I well remember seeing a wooden cradle by the fireplace in the kitchen - and the stake, with a silver plaque on it stating that this was the stake where Bishop Hooper was burned to death. My husband loved Gloucester as much as I do and I thank you for letting me take a trip down memory lane. Keep up your excellent work!

Gloucester UK - 14 January 2006 at 11:28:31 (GMT)

Easy to navigate. However, went through to the GL1 web pages, swimming pages not up to date, does not give information about swimming sessions (ie) how long you can stay in the water for. Also, there was no obvious telephone number so you could ring and enquire!
