For people 65 and over who have health problems.
Attendance Allowance is paid to people who have an illness or disability which gives them difficulty looking after their personal care needs.
Attendance Allowance is tax free and is paid by the Disability Benefits Unit.
Attendance Allowance is paid as it recognises that sick or disabled people have extra living costs which their income may not be able to meet.
Can you claim?
-
You have an illness or disabilty which means you are having difficulty looking after your personal care needs.
-
Your difficulties must have been present for the past six months or more.
How much can you get?
This depends on the level of difficulty you are having with your personal care needs. Your savings does not effect the amount of award and the Attendance Allowance does not reduce any other benefits you may be claiming.
If your answer is yes to any of these questions you may be entitled to Attendance Allowance and should claim immediately:

Important
If you have somebody to help you, think how you would manage without them. Could you still cope or would you be risking your safety?
