What is Child Tax Credit?
Child Tax Credit is a payment to support families with children and is paid by the HM Revenues and Customs|
Can you Claim?
You must be at least 16 and be responsible for a young child. A young person is treated as a child up to the first Monday in September after they leave school or up to the age of 19 if they are still in education.
You do not have to be working to claim Child Tax Credit!
How much can you claim?
Child Tax Credit will be paid in addition to Child Benefit. The amount varies depending on how many children you have. All families with children, with an income of up to £58,000 a year will be able to claim the Credit.
This is a generous Benefit so don't be put off by it, claim today!
What is Working Tax Credit?
Working Tax Credit is a payment to help people on low incomes, including those people who do not have children.
Can you claim?
People who are responsible for a child or young person can claim if:

You are age 16 or over and work at least 16 hours a week.
People without children can claim if:

You are aged 25 or over and work at least 30 hours a week.

You are aged 16 or over and work at least 16 hours a week and you have a disability which puts you at a disadvantage in getting a job.

You or your partner are aged 50 or more and work at least 16 hours a week and are returning to work after time spent away from employment.
How much can you claim?
Working Tax Credit is paid in addition to any Child Tax Credit.
The amount you can receive will be based on how many hours you normally work and your income ( or joint income, if you are part of a couple). There is no capital limit and the gross income will be based on an annual basis.
As part of Working Tax Credit you may qualify for help towards child care costs so long as you are working at least 16 hours a week.
