Welfare Benefits Take-up Campaign

The Welfare Benefits Take-up Campaign part of the Benefits, Investigations and Welfare Rights Services at Gloucester City Council has helped a lot of people claim the benefits they are entitled to, but had not been claiming.

The aim of the campaign is to reduce poverty in the City and to increase income levels in the poorest households in the City.

The Welfare Rights Officer has been working in partnership with organisations like Carers Gloucestershire, Age Concern, Gloucestershire Deaf Association, Gloucester City Homes, Warm and Well and so on, to help people 60 and over.

We offer a free, confidential and impartial welfare rights service via the telephone, advice surgeries or home visits. We provide:

  • information and advice on a whole range of welfare benefits and appropriate services and schemes
  • benefit checks and calculations to assess the correct level of benefit entitlements
  • advice on winter fuel payments and keeping warm in winter
  • help to fill in forms
  • talks and displays.
  • and advice surgeries

The campaign has been successful in helping people claim Disability Benefits, which include Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance. Also in the past we have helped with Pension Credit, Working Tax Credit.

We are having an open day on the 5th February 2010 at Dickens Close, White City between 10am & 1pm. Click here to look at the poster|
