Gloucester has developed over the last 2,000 years, and so on the cusp of the third millenium, the Council decided to take stock. A three-dimensional vision was created showing what we cherish, what we want to change, and what we want to add to the look and function of our City Centre.
The result is this Strategy. It could help unlock the potential for development and investment in the City Centre, ensuring we build on the attractiveness of our built and natural assets. We intend to use it to help market the City to inward investors, to promote good design and to give us reasons to refuse to allow poorly designed buildings and spaces. We will also use it to guide the local investment decisions of other public sector agencies such as the Highway Authority and the Regional Development Agency. Our vision is to help make our city look good and feel good.
