  • MORE EVENTS AT GREEN FARM ORCHARD: For more information click on the Green Farm Orchard link below.

The Urban Wildspace Project is funded by Gloucester City Council. It focuses on enhancing the conservation value of nature reserves in the Gloucester City.  This is achieved by encouraging the local community to get involved in managing nature reserves to foster long-term nature conservation and community benefits by:

  • Increasing community participation through the establishment of a number of 'friends of' groups attached to Local Nature Reserves
  • Organising community events such as work days, guided walks, pond dips for any group interested in participating
  • Increase awareness of green issues by using the nature reserves as a tool for environmental education
  • Make nature reserves accessible for all by improving disabled access and forming links with minority groups and areas experiencing social deprivation
  • Gain official Local Nature Reserve status for the sites to protect them in future and give them the recognition they deserve

The Urban Wildspace Project operates on 5 sites within the City.  These are listed below.  For more information on events held in these areas, click on the relevant links.

  • Appleton Way Meadow - a grassland meadow off Lobleys Drive in Abbeymead
  • Barnwood Arboretum - a mature arboretum and grassland meadow situated off Church Lane in Hucclecote
