Volunteering Opportunities at Gloucester Guildhall

Do you want to get some experience of working in a venue? Want to come and check out what is really involved in putting on a gig, or screening a film?

Then volunteering at Gloucester Guildhall could be for you!

We have a range of voluntary opportunities to suit a variety of people. You could work with our operations team to help stage a live music event, or perhaps help our technical crew with sound, projection or lighting. We have opportunities both front of house and behind the scenes.

If you are interested please contact: Karen Pearson, Operations Coordinator on karen.pearson@gloucester.gov.uk|

Work Experience

The team here at the Guildhall work hard (night and day!) to organise a wide-ranging and ever-changing mixture of events. Though primarily a music venue, our building is used for lots of purposes, all of which require a combination of staff to carry out a variety of roles. Your placement would see you take on the role of a ‘Venue Assistant’.

Perhaps you’ve seen a band at the Guildhall, watched a film in our cinema, attended a weekly workshop or come along to an outdoor event as part of the annual Gloucester Festival. These are all examples of events that require VA staff to ensure a smooth and successful operation.

During your placement you would experience a ‘behind the scenes’ look at how a venue is run and will encounter, amongst others; projectionists, sound engineers, lighting technicians,  bookers and programmers and, of course, the Operations staff responsible for the day to day running of the building.

Whether your interest lies in Event Management, you’re into art, music, film or performance, or whether you simply don’t want to be stuck in front of computer all day in an office and want to experience a varied and unique work placement, come and check us out. If you aren’t afraid of hard work, love interacting with others and want to be part of an active, motivated and hands-on team, then get in touch and the Gloucester Guildhall could be a work placement like you never knew existed!
