The High School For Girls presents a GCSE exhibition of current work from the AQA Art & Design: Textile Design subject. The all-girls Grammar school has been established since 1883 catering for 11-18 year olds with a mixed sixth form. The Art and Textiles GCSE students are working with the theme of 'Africa' and 'India' in their projects; this is represented through the vibrant colours used in the work. The textile nature of the work refers to Indian and African tapestries and the use of varied materials creates a 3-D aspect enhancing the overall finish to the art. The school encourages the importance of content and process as well as a finished piece of art, creating a fun and harmonious environment for its students to work in and helping them to flourish through a breadth of opportunities and challenges like this Guildhall exhibition.
