Every month it's a different topic by an expert in that field. Everything has been discussed from interesting aspects of Gloucester's history and collections to the origins of chess and quilting. So,there is bound to be something for you don't forget your packed lunch!

  • Wednesday 2 nd June - Karmen Waldron - 'Exploring the paranormal at the Folk Museum’

Gloucester Folk Museum is housed in a Tudor timber framed building on Westgate Street. The building has certainly been home and workplace to many people, being a Merchants house, to a chemist's shop to reportedly the house that Bishop Hooper spent his last night in before his execution. By day it’s a lively bustling Museum packed with visitors, but what about by night? Do the floors creak of their own accord and are their visitors of a different kind. Karmen Waldron, part of the Tricorn Paranormal group that spent a night in the Museum last Autumn, will be sharing their findings with us.

The Art Fund is an independent charity that exists to save Art for everyone to enjoy. Since its creation in 1903 it has saved over 860,000 works of Art for the public to enjoy. Its most recent high profile campaign is to try and keep the Staffordshire Hoard of Anglo Saxon treasure, containing some of the finest worked gold and metal ever seen, in the Midlands where it was discovered. Through grants the Art Fund has also helped Gloucester City Museum Service acquire and restore objects, from our Medieval bronze door knocker to Joseph Farington's drawing of Westgate Bridge
