Key Ideas:
How are sounds created?
How do sounds travel?
How do we change the pitch and loudness of a sound?
This practical science session uses lots of fun, hands on experiments to explore sound. Pupils will look at how sound is created through vibrations and how well it travels. They will look at a range of instruments and discover how they work and how to change the tone and pitch of the sounds. Pupils will also be challenged to identify and describe sounds using a ‘Science’ vocabulary.
The content will be tailored to the age group attending, but if necessary the session can easily be presented to KS1 & 2 simultaneously, making it ideal as a Science Week trip as well as part of the core curriculum. For pupils that struggle with the ideas of science in the classroom, this visual hands-on session is ideal for raising confidence and promoting understanding in a relaxed environment.
