Gloucester Folk Museum usually has a running program of temporary exhibitions taken from the extensive range of stored objects that would otherwise be hidden away. Past titles have included Best of the Collections, Bright Lights, Dark Nights, A Great Dickens Christmas, Gloucester’s Musical Connections, Transport of Delights and many more.
This year we have stopped the temporary exhibition programme while we update our other galleries as part of the lottery funded museums make-over. The brand new Retro Room has already been completed and is a celebration of home life in the 60’s and 70’s. The Folk Boutique has also opened selling an eclectic range of kitch and retro gifts, vintage and shabby chic household goods, local crafts and jewellery, cards, wrapping, gift boxes and more with very friendly prices. Next will be the Pin Gallery which will replace the Victorian classroom on the third floor. Don’t panic though, we are simply moving the Victorian classroom to the new education building currently under construction!
We hope to have the redisplays finished by Christmas this year so watch this space for future exhibitions coming soon.
