The Final Design for the new Skate Park at Bakersfield in Gloucester Park

The above design is the winning entry from a competition run through the City Councils website| earlier in the year. The steps have been removed from the original design after further feedback from the consultation and through specialist skate park forums where the designers worked with local skaters directly where it was felt that the steps added nothing to the flow of the park.

Freestyle Skateparks who won the competition have unfortunately been delayed on other sites in the UK subsequently delaying their start in Gloucester.  Work is expected to take 3 weeks, and weather permitting, the new skate park will be open by the end of August.

Work at Bakersfield (the Youth Sport area of Gloucester park) in the last month has seen the installation of a new BMX track and the refurbishment of the existing half pipe and the tennis courts. The final pieces include new fitness equipment and a youth shelter will come in the next 3 weeks. CCTV and lighting will also be installed to help combat anti-social behaviour.

We will keep this site updated with progress on the new skate park.
