Food and Enhanced Recycling Service
Gloucester City Council has made improvements to the way your refuse is collected. To help you to recycle more, from 1st February 2010 , we will be introducing a new weekly food waste collection and enhanced recycling scheme helping us to reduce the waste that ends up in landfill sites.
Your food waste will be collected and taken to a special processing plant where it will be recycled into compost, for use on farms. You can find more more information about this new service and what to put in your new caddy| here.

Two Food Waste Containers ...
In
January 2010 , conventional households should have received a new food waste bin to be kept outside and a small kitchen caddy with details of the new service and a collection calendar. If you have not received your caddies, please contact Gloucester City Council on
01452 396 396.
Caring for your food waste containers ...
Both the larger outside bin and the small kitchen caddy are washable. However, you may want to line them to help keep them clean. You can use either newspaper or kitchen roll paper as these are fully compostable.
Alternatively, you may wish to buy suitable paper bin liners and there are several commercial companies who supply these.
Check out the
Recycle for Gloucestershire| web site for more information and hints and tips to help you manage your food waste.
