What is on site?
199 market and car boot pitches with around 400 parking spaces, and additional informal parking during the dry summer months. This will operate on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. There is a bus service to the site, together with cycle and pedestrian links. The bus service is service number 14, and on the outward journey the bus goes down into the site using the on site stop. On the inward journey the bus stops at the pelican crossing and there is then a short walk down David Hook Way to the site. Ample secure cycle and motor-cycle parking is provided on site as well. The plan below shows the market layout.

What's next?
The opening is an exciting milestone and we believe that this market has the potential to become the biggest and best in the region. It is a purpose built site, and we believe this will be a market of which the Citizens of Gloucester can be proud.

In addition, Gloucester Rowing Club has bought two acres of land from the Council, and will be re-locating to land adjoining the site fronting the canal. The planning permission for Hempsted Meadows allows for occasional camping and caravanning largely in connection with Rowing Club events.
On the West side of the by pass another part of a family day out has opened. The Gloucestershire Barn Owl Centre| (link to Gloucestershire Barn Owl Centre website) has moved from it's previous home in Brockworth, and is open to the public.
So, the people of Gloucester finally have a permanent site from which the City can continue its great tradition of market trading. This has been eagerly awaited by the public, and the current traders, and previous traders who left the City when the market stopped at the former Cattle Market have returned.
The Open Market, Car Boot and the Barn Owl Centre will make a great day out for all the family.
