Background
The Planning Committee meets every month to discuss planning applications which are either major schemes or contentious proposals. About 90% of all planning decisions are delegated by the Council to its professional officers. These tend to be proposals which are minor or straightforward.
The City Council’s Planning Committee takes its job very seriously. Decisions are based on planning law, local planning policies and the circumstances of each individual application.

A planning officer will present each application and field any questions asked by the Planning Committee|. Members of the public (who have given their views on the application) are invited to speak either for or against the proposal for no more than 5 minutes.
Please see the Scheme for Public Speaking at Planning Committee |for any guidance.
Generally the committee will decide on the outcome of the proposal at the meeting but may ask for further information and can defer the application.
