Food Waste

CollectionoffooditemsGloucester City Council has made improvements to the way your refuse is collected. To help you to recycle more, we have introduced a weekly food waste collection and enhanced recycling scheme helping us to reduce the waste that ends up in landfill sites.

Your food waste will be collected and taken to a special processing plant where it will be recycled into compost, for use on farms.

kerbside--caddyTwo Food Waste Containers...

All households should have two food waste containers; a small one for the kitchen and a larger one to be put at the kerbside for collection. If you have not received your caddies, please contact Gloucester City Council on 01452 396 396.

Caring for your food waste containers ...

Both the larger outside bin and the small kitchen caddy are washable. However, you may want to line them to help keep them clean. You can use either newspaper or kitchen roll paper as these are fully compostable.

Alternatively, you may wish to buy suitable paper bin liners and there are several commercial companies who supply these.

Check out the Recycle for Gloucestershire| web site for more information and hints and tips to help you manage your food waste.
