Benefits, Investigations and Welfare Rights Service Win Top Awards
Staff from Benefits, Investigations and Welfare Rights were double winners at this years prestigious Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV) awards.
A ‘Gold’ award was presented to our Welfare Rights team for their dedicated and unique work in the area of Benefit take-up. The IRRV recognized that the vulnerable and seldom heard citizens of Gloucester are actively encouraged and helped to apply for the benefits they are entitled to. This not only enriches their lives, but also strengthens Gloucester’s economy by creating more locally spent money.
A ‘Silver’ award was presented to our Fraud team for their tenacity and commitment to drive fraud out of the benefits system, by investigating and prosecuting any unlawful claim for benefit, without fear or favour. The IRRV felt that their unrelenting perseverance serves as a warning and deterrent to all those who would commit benefit fraud.
Both these awards were contested by very stiff competition from across the country, including large district councils as well as unitary authorities. We feel it’s a honour and a privilege to serve the customers of Gloucester in such a first class manner.
