Gloucester is an historic city with cobbled streets and Wheelchairimagenarrow alleys with many hidden treasures found as you walk around each corner. We want all visitors to Gloucester to have full access to these beautiful buildings and experience what we feel every day working at Gloucester Tourist Information Centre.

Accommodation

Gloucester has a range of accommodation which caters for those who require that extra something, whether it's ground floor rooms, walk in showers or vibrating pillows. All of this information can be found on the City of Gloucester| website. All you need to do is a quick search by selecting the area of Gloucestershire you wish to stay in. Each accommodation listing has an orange 'Accessibility' button where you can find out everything you need to know when planning your visit to Gloucester.

Large Print

Large print maps and guides are available in large print. We are happy to send copies of these out by post.

Shopmobility

Gloucester offers a Shopmobility service which is run by Gloucester City Council. They provide battery powered scooters, wheelchairs, battery chairs, power chairs and rollators to help people who have limited mobility - through permanent, or temporary disablement, accident or age - to use all the facilities in the city centre, the Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet Centre and the Docks. Disabled Toilets

Gloucester City Council in partnership with Marketing Gloucester Ltd launches a new scheme to increase the public toilet provision in the city. The aim is to:

- Increase the number of toilets accessible to people in Gloucester
- Provide clean, safe and accessible toilets
- Increase the number of toilets available for wheelchair users, the elderly, babies and young children.

RADAR Keys

RADAR keys are available to purchase from Gloucester Tourist Information Centre for £4. These keys allow access into a range of toilets across the city. RADAR keys can be sent out at an additional charge of £1.

Via Sacra

In partnership with Gloucester Shopmobility, we tested the Via Sacra to ensure that it was suitable for wheelchairs users. Those who participated, followed the route successfully and had a lovely day out whilst learning all about the history of Gloucester. To download your copy, click here|

Accessible Parking Bays

There are a number of accessible parking bays in the city for those who hold a blue-badge. Gloucester City Council have produced a new car parking guide detailing all City Council car parks including the charges and opening hours. Disabled parking bays are available in all City Council car parks.

Hampden Way - 7 accessible/motorcycle spaces
Longsmith Street Multi-Storey - 17 accessible spaces/16 parent-child spaces
Ladybellegate Street - 7 accessible spaces
Hare Lane North - 1 accessible space
Hare Lane South - 6 accessible spaces
Eastgate Shopping Centre (roof-top) - 20 accessible spaces
GL1 Leisure Centre - 10 accessible spaces
Kings Square Multi-Storey - 4 accessible spaces
Station Road - 2 accessible spaces
St Michael's Square - 1 accessible space

N.B - Blue Badge holders can park in City Council car parks free of charge for up to 3 hours but must ensure a valid Blue Badge is clearly displayed and the time clock is set showing the time of arrival.

There are a number of bays in the Oxebode, Northgate Street and Eastgate Street. Time restrictions apply.

Audio ToursAudioTours

Gloucester Civic Trust have produced a series of audio tours telling the story of Gloucester. There are 5 different walks around the city including a family tour which is great for the kids. You can hire these handsets from the Tourist Information Centre for only £5.00. Special offers running throughout the year.

Accessible Gloucester Guide

Gloucester Tourist Information Centre has produced an Access Guide called 'Accessible Gloucester'. This includes information on access provision at a range of attractions, accommodation and facilities in the City of Gloucester.

This guide provides you with everything you need to know when planning your visit to the city.
- Want to know if a hotel has disabled car parking?
- Do the toilets have hand-rails?
- Do they offer large print information?
- How many steps to the main entrance?
- Are all areas fully accessible?
