Friends of Shopmobility

Who are The Friends of Shopmobility?

A voluntary group governed by Constitution that works with and in support of Gloucester Shopmobility.

What do The Friends of Gloucester Shopmobility do?

We fund-raise for projects associated with disabilities, particularly Gloucester Shopmobility. In addition, we are available to give our views on the service, on local issues involving disability, organise social events and just have fun!

Anyone is eligible to become part of the Friends regardless of age, sex or individual circumstances.

By creating this group as a separate entity to the city council's Shopmobility service, we can develop what we do, how we do it and to what depth of involvement we wish to participate.

The Friends can act as representatives at meetings of other appropriate voluntary organistations and at meetings organised by statutory bodies. Also as part of our role in encouraging people who use mobility aids to use all the facilities in Gloucester, we are used as consultants for access issues throughout the city.

How are we Organised?

The Friends monthly meetings co-ordinate activities and communicate information.  Not everyone who carries out voluntary work for the Friends of Gloucester Shopmobility goes to meetings, but they can still be regarded as 'Friends'.
