STREET CLEANSING

Cleansing of the City Centre

The City Centre now has its own Neighbourhood Team. The City Centre is cleaned between 6am and 8am every morning. It is then cleaned on a regular basis during the day and continued throughout the night 7 days a week. The City Centre Neighbourhood Team carries out :

  • De littering
  • Sweeping
  • Emptying bins
  • Chewing-gum removal

Early morning steam cleaning also operates in the gate streets every morning.

Cleansing Residential Areas

Residential areas are cleansed to a recognised standard, dependent on the nature and needs of the area. This can vary from daily in built up areas to monthly in suburban areas.

Hit Squad

The Hit Squad forms an integral part of the cleansing service. Whilst we endeavour to maintain standards at all times if you notice something we have missed i.e. heavily littered or glass on the footpath/highway, please contact us by either phone (01452 396396) or e-mail (enviro@gloucester.gov.uk) and the area will be cleansed as soon as possible.

Fly-Tipping

Fly-tipping is removed within 1 working day of being notified. If you see any fly-tipped items on the Public Highway or on any Public Land, please notify the Council by either phone (01452 396396) or by e-mail (enviro@gloucester.gov.uk) and we shall deal with the matter promptly.

Fly-tipping is illegal. If you see anyone fly-tipping, please report the incident - giving as much information as possible.
