All establishments included within the accommodation sections of this website are classified under the Harmonised Rating Scheme.
There are several categories of classification, two for serviced accommodation, hotels and guest accommodation and also self-catering and Caravanning & Camping
Hotels
Hotels are rated with stars. In a one star hotel you will find an acceptable level of quality, services and range of facilities. Moving up the one to five star rating scale you will find progressively higher quality standards, providing ever better guest care as well as a wider range of facilities and a higher level of service.
Guest Accommodation
Guest Accommodation is rated with diamonds. These ratings reflect visitor expectations. The quality of what is provided is more important than a wide range of services. A minimum requirement for facilities and services applies to all Guest Accommodation, while progressively higher levels of quality and customer care must be provided for each of the one to five diamonds. During 2006 these will all change to Stars
Self-Catering
Self-catering accommodation is rated with stars (from one to five). The more stars awarded to an establishment, the higher the levels of quality you can expect. Establishments at higher rating levels also have to meet some additional requirements for facilities.
Camping & Caravanning
Camping sites are rated with stars (from one to five). The more stars awarded to an establishment, the higher the levels of quality you can expect. Establishments at higher rating levels also have to meet some additional requirements for facilities.
