The City of Gloucester's diverse history has made it an ideal location for film and TV directors to base their programmes.  Both Gloucester Cathedral and the Historic Docks have been used on many occasions.

  • Berkeley Square - 1997 Costume drama series about three nannies in Edwardian England.
  • Animal Ark - 1997 Children's Programme.
  • These Foolish Things - 2004 Olympus Theatre, Barton Street. Starring Lauren Bacall and Anjelica Huston
  • Outlaw - 2006. Starring Sean Bean, Danny Dyer and Bob Hoskins. Directed by Nick Love.

Historic Gloucester Docks

Filming Includes:

  • Martin Chuzzlewit - 1994 Charles Dickens novel of Victorian London.
  • The Onedin Line - 1972 - 1980 Series about a young man's rise to wealth and power through the establishing of his own shipping line in the late C19th.
  • Buffalo Girls.
  • Vanity Fair - 1998 The story of Becky Sharp - determined to scale the heights of society at any cost.
  • Maurice - 1987 The life of a Cambridge homosexual - from a semi -autobiographical novel on E M Forster.
  • Hannay - 1988 - 89 Adventures of John Buchan's officer-adventurer, Richard Hannay.
  • 'Amazing Grace' - 2005. Starring Ioan Gruffudd and Albert Finney. Based on the true story of William Wilberforce, a British statesman and reformer from the early part of the 19th century. Click here to see clips of the location.
  • The Colour of Magic - 2008.  Sky One adaptation of Terry Pratchett's novel starring David Jason.
