 Cajun & Zydeco Festival

Gloucester International Cajun and Zydeco Festival 2009

Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th January.

The biggest festival of its kind in the UK, the Gloucester International Cajun and Zydeco Festival is a weekend-long party that brings the scene’s best bands and musicians to the city, as well as dance and instrument workshops, jam sessions, Cajun food and an atmosphere that’s become legendary on the international C&Z scene.

Now in its sixteenth year, this three-day celebration delivers an unrivalled mix of music and dance rooted in the traditions of America’s Deep South where people know how to shake off the blues and party to the hot sweet sounds of Cajun and Zydeco Music. Top Tourism Staff take Silver

Gloucester staff struck silver in awards to find the top Tourist Information Centre in the south-west.

Shortlisted from a field of 200 entries, in a judging process featuring secret shopping visits and enquiries by telephone and email as well as in person, the city’s Tourist Information Centre was runner up in the competition run by South West Tourism.

The TIC in Southgate Street, which was recently refurbished, was also named as one of the top 40 contributors to the tourism experience in the south west of England.
