Free advice on trading with Latin America

Posted on Friday 3rd February 2012

Businesses within the city – and wider afield – are being offered free advice on how to open up trade opportunities with 11 markets in Latin America.

The special seminar has been organised by the economic development team at Gloucester City Council with government experts from UK Trade and Investment.

It is a unique opportunity to have one-to-one meetings with overseas trade officers, gain first-hand knowledge about business opportunities and book a place to hear presentations about individual countries.

The seminar takes place at the Hallmark Hotel in Gloucester on February 21st starting at 08.45. Places are limited and need to be booked by February 16th.

Information will be available on Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.

Council Leader, Paul James, commented: “Latin America matters to the UK as an area of significant economic opportunity. The region has a combined gross domestic product that is almost as large as Japan.  Brazil is predicted to be the fifth largest economy in the world and Mexico the sixteenth by 2016.

“ With such a huge potential market it is important that we work with Government experts to provide information to local businesses to help them tap into it. I hope that as many as possible will take advantage of this unique opportunity. Helping businesses to break into the export market or increase existing trade is all part of the transformation that is taking place with Gloucester.”
