Three new stalls will be joining the regulars this Friday when Gloucester’s Farmers’ Market opens under new management.
Grenchurch has been selected by the City Council as the new operator and they begin this week – following a competitive tendering process.
And they are bringing with them three stalls that operate with them at other locations. They include traditional Gloucester cheeses, home-made pasties and home-made cakes and fudge.
A total of 15 stalls are expected to be setting out their wares on Friday for the market which always attracts lots of interest from residents and visitors to the city.
Council Leader Paul James, commented: “We hoped the change of operator would go smoothly and it appears that this will be the case. The new operator has commitments from a number of additional farmers, growers and producers. This is a promising sign that the market will go from strength to strength.
“Some of the items sold at the market are seasonal so as we get further into the year I am sure that the number of stall holders will increase. The farmers market adds vibrancy to the city centre on Fridays and will continue to attract shoppers and visitors into the heart of Gloucester.”
