Launch of club to support businesses in the city

Posted on Wednesday 25th January 2012

Businesses in the City will soon be able to draw on support and advice from a new club launching in February.

A breakfast meeting has been organised by Gloucester City Council’s economic development team to introduce the Resource Efficiency Club (REC).

Working with, local business, Sustainable Direction the club is intended to help businesses run more efficiently and save money by reviewing their activities and gaining specialist advice.

The first meeting will take place at North Warehouse at The Docks on Thursday, February 2nd, from 7:45am-10am.

Councilor Steve Morgan cabinet member for the environment said:“Supporting businesses has never been more important than in the current climate.  It is imperative that we give them as many opportunities as possible to be more efficient and environmentally aware.

We’ve found working with businesses in this way encourages them to take action and make real changes which can really help them to succeed.

In the current business environment it is important companies comply with legislation and develop sustainable practices. This will not only help to take their environmental credentials to the next level, but will also save them money and could give them access to all important funding.”

The series of sessions will include; how to monitor and improve performance. Briefings on water management, waste reduction, energy efficiency, environmental legislation and sustainability, as well as details of funding initiatives currently available to eligible small and medium enterprises, and excellent opportunities for networking and sharing best practice.

The sessions will be split into four sessions, the first of which is free of charge, further two hour sessions, which will be held monthly, will cost a total of £100 plus VAT.
