A string of people faced with the most traumatic period of their lives have still taken the trouble to praise city council staff.
Having a death in the family is commonly acknowledged as being amongst the most stressful events to have to face.
Despite this relatives who have used the Coney Hill Cemetery and Crematorium have written glowing tributes to the staff for their professionalism, sensitivity and caring.
The City Council run cemetery and crematorium features a new tea and wake room and is fast developing a reputation for having some of the best facilities in the country.
Testimonials have praised:
-
The ‘wonderful memorial gardens and beautiful grounds’
-
The staff who ‘took all of the organisation and hassle out of our hands.’
-
A Funeral Director who said ‘ I just wanted to let you know how pleased the family and ourselves were.’
-
A resident from London who commented ‘ we were truly delighted with the whole set up.’
-
A husband who commented: ‘ I have gained great comfort and consolation from knowing my wife is resting in peace in such a pleasant, smart and well maintained place.’
Councillor Steve Morgan, cabinet member for the environment, said: “These tributes are very, very touching – coming as they do from people who are going through such a difficult period in their lives.
“Our staff are extremely dedicated and well trained and I know how much these comments mean to them. The fact that they come at a time when people have other emotions to deal with makes it particularly poignant.”
