A consultation exercise is being carried out that will enable Gloucester City Council to introduce changes in rules covering taxi and hire cars to both new and existing drivers at the same time.

Recent changes approved by the council - which include removing roof signs from private hire vehicles – come into effect this month.

But the changes will only apply to new drivers being registered with the council. Existing drivers will be affected when their licences expire and they have to re-register.

Now a 12 week consultation period has got under way asking for views on the changes.

If approved the council would be able to change the licensing rules subject to giving adequate notice.

Comments should be sent to the City council by May 28th to:

Environmental Health Manager

Fax: 01452 396340
E-mail: licence.team@gloucester.gov.uk
