Greater Blackfriars Planning Brief

CONSULTATION CLOSED

REVISED DRAFT CONSULTATION

The Council has produced a revised draft Planning Brief for the Greater Blackfriars area of Gloucester.  In response to the Planning Brief, the Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company (GHURC)| has produced, in conjunction with consultants, a Masterplan for the eastern part of the area.  Both documents are subject to a six week period of public consultation between 13th August and 24th September 2009.  The Council's Planning Brief is being consulted on in accordance with Regulation 17 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004.

The documents set out the preferred option for the development of the site, and includes new office space, cultural facilities associated with Blackfriars Priory, a 4 star hotel as well as the creation of a new public square and pedestrian routes.

The consultation ran from Thursday 13th August to Thursday 24th September 2009.  Copies of the consultation documents were made available for the duration of the consultation on this webpage, in all local libraries, at the Guildhall and at the Gloucester Tourist Information Centre.

OVERVIEW

To date the Planning Brief has been subject to two periods of public consultation.  Comments received at each stage of consultation have been taken into account, where necessary in the redrafting of the subsequent draft of the Planning Brief.  For more information, see below.

Formal Consultation

The Revised Draft Greater Blackfriars Planning Brief was subject to a six-week period of formal consultation between 1 October and 12 November 2007, under Regulation 17 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004. We are currently in the process of drawing up a schedule of all responses received, and this should be available shortly.

Informal Consultation

The Draft Greater Blackfriars Planning Brief was subject to a six-week period of informal consultation between 7 August and 18 September 2006.  Comments received during this consultation were taken into account during the redrafting of the document (see below).
