LATEST NEWS - FUNDING ROUND IS NOW CLOSED FOR APPLICATIONS

Applications to the City Council’s Community Grants Programme for funding for 2009/10 will now be assessed.

The following is therefore for information purposes only with regards to the grants programme and its timetable.

What is the Community Grants Programme about?

It is designed to make real differences to the lives of the people of Gloucester by funding projects that support our 3 key criteria –

·Category 1 - Gloucester’s Sustainable Community Strategy
·Category 2 - Community engagement and action and / or Community cohesion and equalities
·Category 3 - Shared and joint working

Who can apply?

· Local, non profit making groups that operate to the benefit of Gloucester and its inhabitants
· Only one application per organisation can be submitted
· Organisations on multi year funding or service level agreements through the Community Grants programme cannot apply

Types of grants made

· We make grants towards project costs. A project could be a new development or an on-going activity.
· We will not give grants for capital costs

How much to apply for

· There is approximately £35K in total still available for allocation in 2009/10
· There is no maximum grant; however, please bear in mind that only a small number of grants will exceed £5K, most will be for much smaller amounts

What to do next?

· Read the Guide to Community Grants OR obtain a copy from the Community Development Team on 01452 396980 / 396033

· Check your eligibility by completing the Eligibility Test

· Talk to the Community Development Team about your project (details of the activities being funded in 2008/09 can be found here)

· Obtain an application form (including reference number) from the team

· Complete the application form

· Sign and send!

(The application form is not available on the website because we would like to talk to you about your application before we send you the form; this is because we want to ensure that applicants make the best application possible and make the best use of their and our resources, eg we hope to reduce the number of ineligible applications)

Programme timetable

· Opens from 1st June 2008

· Application deadline is 12 noon 31st July 2008

· Decisions communicated to groups by 30th November 2008

· Funding available from 1st April 2009

(Applications will only be assessed if all sections of the form have been completed and received, including all appendices, by the deadline of 12 noon 31st July 2008)
