Feedback on the Townscape Heritage Initiative
Please let us know what you think about the Southgate Street Townscape Heritage Initiative.
This is a heritage led regeneration project which has been improving the appearance of the historic environment in the Southgate Street area of Gloucester City. The Project tackles disrepair, erosion of quality and the under use of historic buildings by offering grant assistance towards;
• Repair to the historic fabric of buildings
• Restoring authentic architectural details and materials
• Bringing vacant floor space back into beneficial use
Improving the street scene
Alongside these physical improvements, the project has also delivered some complementary initiatives including workshops and training to improve conservation skills, and developing educational resources to promote knowledge and appreciation of Gloucester’s historic buildings.
The scheme is run by Gloucester City Council through a partnership including Gloucester Civic Trust, St Mary De Crypt Church, Gloucester Chamber of Trade and Young Gloucestershire. It is Heritage Lottery funded with a total budget of £1.2 million.
