Strategic Assessment of Land Availability (SALA)

Government guidance (NPPF and PPG) requires local authorities to consider capacity within their areas with regard to the availability of land to accommodate housing and employment development. Gloucester City, Cheltenham Borough, and Tewkesbury Borough Councils do this through a Strategic Assessment of Land Availability (SALA) process.

The SALA does not determine or make recommendations as to whether a particular site should be allocated for housing (including self build, Gypsy and Traveller communities) or employment purposes (including retail), nor does it determine whether planning permission should be granted, these matters are for statutory plan and decision making processes.

Sites can be submitted at any time. Should you wish to submit a site for consideration for the next SALA review please complete the proforma (DOC, 177.5 KB)

For details about how we handle data submitted with a SALA proforma please read SALA Privacy Statement (PDF, 106 KB).
