You often tell us how important living in a safe community, with low crime figures is important to you.
Gloucester City Council is committed to working with other organisations to help create a safe environment for us to live in, including; Gloucestershire County Council, The Police, the Fire and Rescue Service, Probation and the NHS.
Community safety is a coordinated approach to tackling crime and disorder in Gloucester, which considers the causes of why people become involved in crime, and how victims of crime can be made less vulnerable. We examine both the social and environmental causes that are factors to overall crime and disorder levels and which also cause the fear of crime, which in Gloucester is disproportionate to actual criminal offences.
Examples of the projects we are involved in include Paws on Patrol, encouraging dog owners to be the eyes and ears of the community, NightSafe, working to ensure that residents and visitors to Gloucester City Centre are and feel safe on a Friday and Saturday night and engaging with our communities to provide advice and information on how to keep themselves safe.
