GL1 has a magnificent complex of four pools with a variety of sessions from beginners and splashers to serious swimmers.

The Barton Pool (above) is an 8 lane 25m competition pool, suitable for national competitions as well as community use. The pool has a variable depth floor, which is altered to suit different swimming sessions.
The Twyver Pool (below left) is a 4 lane 25 metre pool (fixed depth 0.9-1.8m) suitable for lane swimming and specialist sessions. The programme changes throughout the year to encourage a healthy lifestyle and cater for everyone's swimming needs. Whether you want to be the next Olympic swimming champion or just learning to swim, GL1 is for you!
The Elver Pool is a shallow learner pool primarily for teaching children to swim in our popular swim school programme, but it is also open for public use when lessons are not taking place.
The Tad Pool (below right) is a children's fun pool with slide, bubble seat and water jets for the under 11's (please see below for pool admission rules).
POOL SAFETY
Safety is vitally important at GL1, and we follow the latest national safety guidelines laid down by the Royal Lifesaving Society :

The Tad Pool is for use ONLY by children under age 11, who must be accompanied in the water by a parent or guardian over 16 years (except by prior arrangement).
Extra vigilance is required from anyone with weak or non-swimmers in their group.
Please inform the lifeguard if anyone in your group suffers from a medical condition e.g. epilepsy.
There is disabled visitor access to all pools using a chair hoist. Please do not hesitate to ask if you require assistance.
POOL CHANGING AREAS
The changing areas for all four pools are situated adjacent to Pool Control.
The area has both individual and family changing cubicles and showers, plus separate male and female shower / toilet blocks, baby changing and disabled facilities. In addition 4 lockable group-changing rooms are available on request.
SWIMMING CLUBS & PRIVATE HIRE

BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Let your 'little monsters' burn off excess energy at one of our Birthday Parties for children in the Twyver and Elver Pool on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. These popular parties include fun equipment. A 'Little Monsters' tea party can also be arranged afterwards in one of our function rooms.
