Interactive, fun cooking demos for all ages, Ready! Steady! Cook! style cook-off, Taste Tents with global food to try and buy, beer festival, local produce, family entertainment and lots, lots more!
Spice up your summer at the first ever Taste, a mouth-watering celebration of food and drink in Gloucester Docks. Come along and enjoy fun, interactive cooking demonstrations, travel back in time and witness Cooking Through The Ages, let the youngsters get involved with hands-on cooking for children and teenagers, venture into our Taste Tents and sample foods from all across the globe and buy some delicious treats to take home. Coots Bar will host a speciality beer festival, and there'll be live entertainment for all ages.
The event will be extended throughout the city with pubs, cafes and restaurants all joining in to celebrate Gloucestershire’s rich food and drink heritage.
This event is supported by British Waterways, Gloucester Docks Trading Company, GL1’s Living and Learning Department, Severn Sound, the Army, Gloucestershire College, Hartpury College and Coots Café-Bar.
Live interactive cooking demos
Don't miss our fun, entertaining interactive cooking demos, offering up the delicious, the unusual and the wonderful! They are:-
11am: Army Ration Pack Cooking
See first hand just how creative and resourceful the Army's chefs are, as they show us how they keep our soldiers fed and nourished, using only basic ingredients and equipment.
12 noon: "The Cotswold Chef" Rob Rees MBE - Fun, Tasty and Local
Join award winning TV chef Rob Rees as he entertains and cooks up fun, tasty local dishes. Rob is one of the UK's best chefs and is on a mission to get the UK eating tasty, nutritious food, while always buying local!

1pm: Exotic and Unusual!

Direct from America's Deep South, this Louisiana livewire will fire up your afternoon with a spicy Cajun cooking demo, complete with live music from her band the Francadians!

Cooking Through The Ages tent
Travel back in time and see authentic cooking demonstrations from Roman, Mediaeval and Tudor times, and see how we ate in the 1940's. Fantastic re-enactors will be on hand to recreate the sights, sounds and tastes across the generations.
Hands-on Kids Cooking tent
Cooking isn't just for grown-ups! Our hands-on kids cooking tent will be packed with delicious ingredients for youngsters to get creative with. There'll be smoothie making, salad creating, cupcake decorating, healthy sandwich ideas and 'plant your own fruit and vegetables' activities.

Taking place in the courtyard of the recently opened Coots Bar, the Taste Beer Festival will feature tasting opportunities and ales and ciders to buy from the regions' finest breweries, Wickwar, Arkells, Goffs, Freeminers, Stroud Brewery, Orchards Cider and Perry Company and Nailsworth Brewery.
Rural Crafts Association

Respected Gloucester historian Phil Moss will be hosting a free talk on the history of the city's many inns at the Guildhall in Eastgate Street at 1pm.

Getting to Gloucester
Gloucester is situated on two major roads - the M5 and the A40. The closest motorway junctions to the city on the M5 are junction 11 to the North, junction 11A to the East and junction 12 to the South. Follow the signs for the city centre and Gloucester Historic Docks. It is also close to the M4 and the M50 and served by a comprehensive network of rail, coach and air links.

Parking
Gloucester has many city centre car parks within easy walking distance of Gloucester Docks. Limited parking will also be available in the Docks via the Southgate Street entrance only.
