GLOUCESTER GOES TIME TRAVELLING - FREE EVENT

Residents and visitors to Gloucester this spring are being invited to step back in time – as the city travels 2000 years through the ages.

Hundreds of re-enactors will transform Gloucester  with Roman encampments, medieval knights , English civil war scenes, Victorian classrooms, Vikings, Nelsonian  boats, sailors and world war II military vehicles.

The transformation of the city takes places on April 19-20 – the nearest weekend to St George’s Day.

The event will start with a grand parade at 11.00 featuring St.George on horseback  and other ‘special guests’ will include Henry VIII – and his wives.

The entire weekend – which has been funded by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and sponsored by English Partnerships – will show the part played by all of the different groups in the history and development of the city.
