Local Democracy Week 2007

Up to U - Local Democracy Week in Gloucester

In association with

GYM - Gloucester Youth Movement

What would you do to Longleven's Park with £150,000?

This is what Gloucester Youth Movement have been asking young people across the city, and it isn't just for fun - this is actually happening!

The planning department have been consulting with people in the city about this (click here| to see what they've been doing), and GYM decided to get young people in on the act.

Every opinion counts, and if you haven't had a visit from GYM in your school yet, email GYM to get us involved!

What is Gloucester Youth Movement?

Gloucester Youth Movement (GYM) is a youth organisation that works with young people aged between 13 and 19 to promote their rights to equality and to help improve facilities for young people in the city.

We reguarly meet with Councillors to have our say and to make sure that the Council considers young people in all its decisions.

The Up2U Project

This is a project to promote democracy and to show young people how having a say and voting really makes a difference in their lives and their city.

Last year we ran the UP2U project and asked young people what they wanted in the city... They told us a graffiti wall... So we built one!

We Want Your Help...

If you worked on the project with your school, or are just generally interested, contact us and get involved! We need people to help with the consultation, the design, and actually making it happen!

All it will take is some afternoons after school and a willingness to say what you think. We may even throw in some chocolate biscuits...

If you would like to get involved with this project send us an email: gym@gloucester.gov.uk
