What?
The Government has given us a 'pot' of money to share out amongst groups of young people who apply to do something they haven't had the chance to before.
A trip to Alton Towers; A training day; An excursion; Working towards a certificate; An arts project. Basically anything that will benefit young people, and the main aim is to have fun!
How does it work?
A panel of young people has been created for each area, so in Gloucester every couple of weeks a group meet and go over your applications with a set of criteria. They will then decide if what you ask for benefits enough young people to justify the money asked for.
How do I apply?
Easy! All you need to do is be under 18 and have an idea that you've really thought out. Fill in the forms (you can download below) and send them to the address on the form!
If you need any assistance - sometimes sorting out prices and making sure your project is clear on the form can be tricky, so contact your local youth group or the relevant person listed on the back of the forms. If you are stuck, let Sarah Gilbert (01452) 396 285 at GYM know.
The Capital Fund
As an aside, there is also a fund that is for those of you with more permanent ideas.
This is the Capital Fund, there for creating things like youth shelters or doing up buildings. This is also managed by a panel of young people. You can apply for both funds if you have a project that fits both categories!
Application forms
The Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF) is intended to give young people more choices about places to go and things to do, and to support young people to make decisions, to give grants and to lead projects.
