A family fun day aimed at promoting the Paws on Patrol scheme is returning to Gloucester Park for its sixth year.

Taking place on Saturday, September 22 at midday, the park will be full of activity with displays from Gloucestershire Police Dog Team, LG Agility Group, Ambitions Dance Group and many more.

There will also be a novelty dog show, which everyone is welcome to take part in and is free to enter.

As well as the entertainment there will be a variety of stalls featuring arts and crafts, cultural activities, sports, small businesses and delicious foods.

The event is a celebration of the Paws on Patrol initiative, a crime prevention scheme where dog owners register to be the 'eyes and ears' for their community while out walking their pets.

The scheme, similar to neighbourhood watch invites dog walkers to provide the police and council with information which could help to make neighbourhoods safer.

This year’s event has been jointly organised by Gloucester City Council, Gloucestershire Constabulary, Hartpury College and Diverse-City.

Councillor Jennie Watkins, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, said: “ I would encourage people to come along to this fantastic event and find out more about Paws on Patrol. By working together with our communities we can help make them safer for everyone.”

If you're interested in volunteering at the Paws on Patrol event contact the Community Wellbeing Team by calling Gloucester City Council on 01452 396330. The event runs from 12 noon until 5pm and volunteers are needed throughout and after this time.
