Easter fun at the Museum of Gloucester

This Easter, the Museum of Gloucester is providing a variety of fun activities for young people of all ages.

Why not spend your Easter being shown around the Eastgate Chamber by a Roman soldier or getting crafty and creating your own piece of art? There is something for everybody at the museum this year and tickets are selling fast.  

Entry to the museum is now free, although special exhibitions will incur a small charge. The Museum of Gloucester features a self-service café, revamped reception area and shop and is also the temporary location of the Tourist Information Service.

Easter events include:

Children’s Easter Crafty Corner Drop-in activities (all activities are free of charge and take place from 10am - 4pm) 

  • 11, 12 and 13 April – Easter Cards
  • 16, 17 and 18 April – Easter Basket Making

Tours of the King’s Bastion 9 April – 13 August

Gloucester City Council, working in partnership with the King's Walk Shopping Centre and the Civic Trust, is opening the King's Walk Bastion for public tours again this summer. The chamber contains the remains of part of the Roman city wall and a medieval defensive tower, constructed during the reign of Henry III. There will be three tours daily at 11am, 11:45am and 12:30pm. More information is available at www.facebook.com/events/346760475921377/

Ever looked down through the glass chamber outside Boots and wondered what else is down there? Why not go down and take a look! Eastgate Chamber Tours (Civic Trust) 12 April – 28 June

With a Civic Trust guide, visit the Eastgate Chamber and discover Roman walls from the 2nd and 4th centuries, a medieval gate tower from the 13th century and a horsepool from the mid-16th century. More information is available at www.facebook.com/events/1899784176816104/

Civic Trust Tours: Roman Gloucester Tours – until 21 June

With a Civic Trust guide, learn why the Romans came to Gloucester. Discover Roman walls in the Eastgate Chamber, walk down the site of the Forum and meet Emperor Nerva, our founder. As well as all these specialised events, the Museum of Gloucester also offers object handling days, adult craft workshops and sewing, art and games clubs. We are also proud to announce our flagship summer exhibition ‘The Moon’, which will run from 29 June to 21 September 2019.
