The Spring Clean, organised by Gloucester City Council will take place on Friday 5 April and aims to encourage people to come together to help make the city sparkle.

Volunteers will be meeting outside the Guildhall on Eastgate Street, Gloucester between 11:00am - 3:00pm. Anyone is welcome to come along on the day and take part.

Tasks will include painting, cleaning, simple maintenance and weeding. The council will provide equipment and advise anyone taking part to wear suitable clothing and footwear.

Businesses and voluntary groups around the city have been sent letters asking them to get involved; alternatively they can hold their own mini event on the day.

Groups will be given advice, support and assistance to help make the events as successful as possible.

Councillor Richard Cook, cabinet member for environment at Gloucester City Council:  “The Spring Clean has been a huge success in previous years, with people of all ages coming together as a community to make sure the city is looking its best.

It’s great to see local people working together and taking pride in their city. We hope to see even more volunteers getting involved this year.”

Anyone wanting to take part in the Big Spring Clean should meet outside the Guildhall on Eastgate Street between 11am-3pm.

Businesses or communities wanting to hold their own event should contact Ismael.Rhyman@gloucester.gov.uk by Wednesday 3th April.
