Father Christmas will be making an appearance to bring some festive cheer between 10.30am and 4.30pm.

Christmas is a magical time for children and this year is no different. Families can also take the opportunity to support their local market traders and catch up on their Christmas shopping.

Eastgate Indoor Market have taken steps to give parents peace of mind and to ensure that children can still experience meeting Santa.

You can find Santa’s Grotto near the Market Café where a queuing system and social distancing measures will be in place.

Councillor Dawn Melvin, cabinet member for Economic Recovery and Growth at Gloucester City Council, said: “Christmas is going to be a little different this year but we still want to give children the opportunity to meet Santa Claus.  We wanted to make sure that Santa’s visit could be organised in a fun and safe way for families. Shoppers looking for Christmas presents will also be spoilt for choice in the market with our local stallholders selling everything from toys, gifts and food – so why not support our local businesses too.”

Shoppers are reminded to wear masks unless they are exempt and to try to keep two metres apart from people who are not in their household. They are also encouraged to regularly wash their hands and if this is not possible to use hand sanitiser to help keep themselves and their families safe.

Children can meet Father Christmas free of charge at the Eastgate Indoor Market between 10.30am and 4.30pm on Sunday 13 December.
