Grants available for businesses severely affected by COVID 19
Gloucester City Council is encouraging businesses severely financially affected by COVID during the current lockdown to apply for a grant.

Applications are being accepted until December 9 for the government’s Additional Restrictions Grant which is a one-off payment to struggling businesses.
Eligible businesses must have been forced to close as a result of the national lockdown as outlined in the government guidance, and have a high building related property cost but are not business ratepayers.
Applications are also invited from businesses that remain open with relatively high ongoing fixed costs including building related costs.
Eligible businesses must also be classed as local priority which includes businesses that supply retail, hospitality, leisure or events, market traders, nurseries (if in receipt of business rates nursery discount) and self employed persons with no recourse to government COVID help schemes.
Further details and an online application are at https://www.gloucester.gov.uk/community-living/advice-on-covid-19/what-you-need-to-know/business-support/business-rates-and-business-grants/
Financial support is also available through the Local Restrictions Support Grant to help businesses cope with the loss of income during lockdown.
Businesses can apply by completing a secure online form and find more information here.
Those eligible must be a business-rated property and come under the government’s categories of those forced to close, that can be found here.
Councillor Dawn Melvin, cabinet member for economic recovery and growth at Gloucester City Council, said: “I know many businesses are struggling to deal with the challenges of the pandemic and the effect it has had on our economy. I hope these grants go some way to helping those who need them and urge anyone who thinks they are eligible to apply.”
