Are you passionate about Gloucester?
Residents who are passionate about their city are being invited to apply for a position on one of Gloucester City Council’s strategic committees.
The city council is looking to recruit an independent member to join its Audit and Governance Committee.
The seven strong committee helps the council manage risk and provides oversight for financial reporting and other similar areas.
The new member would bring an independent perspective to analysing the arrangements for managing risk and reporting on financial and performance matters.
They will be required to give politically neutral advice and would ideally be someone with financial or auditing experience, as well as practical experience of risk management.
They should be able to think strategically and be comfortable taking in complex information and asking challenging questions.
Candidates should have experience, preferably in the public, private, voluntary and charitable sector and have a qualification in accountancy, finance, risk management, business management or Internal Audit. Training for the role will also be given.
Councillor Declan Wilson, chair of the Audit and Governance Committee, said: “This is both an interesting and an important role and we are really keen to hear from residents who think that they may have the required experience.”
The committee meets around five times a year and on an 'exception' basis as required.
