Welcome message from Jon McGinty Managing Director
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in this exciting role for City Council!
Thank you for your interest in joining Gloucester City Council. The Council is an ambitious organisation, punching far above its weight with its significant urban regeneration programme and its strong community relationships. Our ambition and pride in our city are shared by our residents and businesses too. We are looking for an exceptional candidate as Head of Finance and Resources to help lead and manage the organisation in the next phase of our City’s exciting journey.
As Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that we resource and prudently manage the finances to deliver our Council’s regeneration programme as well as all our services in these financially challenging times. You will also be responsible for ensuring our portfolio of assets – commercial as well as operational – deliver best value for the taxpayer and customers.
The post will be a core member of our Council’s top senior management team, working together to deliver corporate leadership across the organisation and in our advice to Councillors.
It’s not just a great council, but it’s a great place to live and work too. Gloucester’s location as the cathedral city of the picturesque Cotswolds is pretty special, and we’re superbly located between Cardiff, Bristol, Oxford and Birmingham. As an employer, we offer an agile, flexible working policy and an extensive employee wellbeing package, including Local Government Pension Scheme membership, reduced cost leisure, a cycle to work scheme and a staff benefits scheme.
If you’re up for a challenge, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your CV and a covering letter (no more than 4 sides of A4) setting out how you meet the requirements of the role to exrecruit@gloucestershire.gov.uk
