During the last 12 months, we have made excellent progress in developing an ambitious Local Plan which provides the spatial blueprint for driving the regeneration of our City.

At the heart of the regeneration programme is the £100m redevelopment of Kings Quarter as a mixed use, sustainable community in the heart of our historic City. We will also embrace the challenge we face in a post Covid-19 world of transforming our City Centre from one based on a traditional retail to one that is repopulated with residents, workers and visitors enjoying a variety of experiences throughout the day and night.

As Planning Manager you will play a leading role in delivering these ambitions working alongside like-minded professionals.

We are seeking someone who understands the concept of taking a development team approach to major projects, who is confident to engage developers and partners in the early stages of design, and who leads by example in meeting customers' high expectations.

This is a high profile role which will need to successfully manage the often conflicting demands of planning policy, regeneration needs and market expectations. You will act as an ambassador for the City in general and the City Council in particular working with and alongside a range of stakeholders and partners to ensure the effective delivery of a high-quality place-shaping development management service.

Shortlisting
Applications will be shortlisted by the recruiting Manager. Where possible our recruitment team will provide feedback. However, we may not be able to provide feedback at the application stage to all candidates.

Assessment Centre
Shortlisted candidates will take part in further assessment activity which may include peers, stakeholders, and our senior leadership team.

Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, it is likely that the Assessment Centre will be undertaken virtually.
