Tier 2: What you need to know

The government has announced that Gloucester will be in 'Tier 2: High alert' from 2 December. The current national restriction rules are still in place until 2 December and must be followed until they expire.

Taxi ranks (hackney carriage stands)

12 months ago we shared the plans for the proposed change to Kings Quarter and the Hackney Carriage Rank by the bus station. The proposed plans were to reduce the rank to 6 spaces. Working with the trade through the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire trade meetings we put in several representations to the developers apposing these plans. Through the hard work of the trade members, City Council and the Chair of Licensing the developers took on board the concerns and have changed the design to increase the rank from 6 to 8 spaces. This is not ideal but without the input from the trade the change would not have been made.

Also under the new proposed plan there will be three additional spaces within the new car park for Hackney Carriage vehicles only. All having access to electric points.

These will be submitted at the end of November.

If you click on the below links you will be able to see the new plans. If you require any further information, please email cityimprovement@gloucester.gov.uk
