Performance storytelling lifts off at the Museum of Gloucester on Tuesday 13 August when Chloë of the Midnight Storytellers entertains visitors with four shows of Tales from the Moon & Other Worlds...

Accompanying the museum’s Moon exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, Chloë takes your imagination right inside a lunar excursion module. Then you’re off into folktale and fantasy to meet marsh monsters, green children and a medieval UFO.

Show times are 10.30, 11.30, 1.30 and 2.30 and last for 45 minutes. Shows are ideal for age 8+, all welcome.

“I was eight days short of my ninth birthday when the Apollo 11 LEM touched down on the moon,” said Chloë. “My parents got me out of bed to watch it on our very first, black and white television. I was just a kid but I knew this expedition was changing the future for planet Earth. The moon features in wonderful traditional stories around the world, and I think some fairy characters seem strangely like what we now think of as space aliens. This is when performance storytelling can boldly go where it’s never gone before!"

Chloë of the Midnight Storytellers was recently announced as storyteller in residence at Sudeley Castle, and she performed to a packed house at Cheltenham Literature Festival 2018. Starting November 2019 she celebrates Midnight Storytellers’ 20th anniversary. After more than 20 years living in the Cotswold countryside, Chloë is now based in Cheltenham.
