Gloucester car parks
Longsmith Street Car Park is currently closed until further notice and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Season Ticket holders of this car park can use Westgate, Hare Lane North and Station Road car parks. Gloucester City Council is responsible for 13 pay and display car parks and 2 pay on foot car parks including 3 multi-storey car parks providing approximately 2,275 parking spaces across the city. One Pay and display machine in most Gloucester City Car Parks will now take cash payments.
We also provide information on how Blue Badge holders will be able to get the 3 hours free parking now. Our car parks play a vital role in supporting the city centre economy and provide essential facilities for shoppers, tourists and businesses. Gloucester City Council offers 3 hours free parking for Blue Badge holders within all of their car parks (Blue Badge and time clock must be clearly and securely displayed).
Most council car parks remain open after the charging period, with the exception of Castlemeads car park which is locked at 7pm.
Cashless pay and stay parking
You can now pay for your parking at participating traditional pay and display car parks using your mobile phone by SMS, our smartphone applications, online or by telephone. To pay for parking or to register an account please view Gloucester City Council's cashless parking.
Please note: This facility is not offered in GL1, Southgate Moorings, Eastgate and Kings Walk car parks.
Height restrictions
Longsmith Street car park height restriction 1.83 metres, Kings Walk car park 1.85 metres and Castlemeads 2.0 metres, all other city council car parks have height restrictions (2.03 metres) except for:
- Gloucester Leisure Centre - GL1
- Hampden Way
- Hare Lane North
- Hare Lane South
- Ladybellegate Street
- Westgate car park (height barrier is opened 7am – 7pm)PLEASE NOTE THIS CAR PARK WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC ON THE 30TH JUNE TO THE 4TH JULY (INCL.)
Motorhome parking
Motorhomes can park at the Westgate coach and car park, but you will need to take up 2 car parking spaces and pay for 2 tickets (as if paying for 2 cars), and place these clearly visible in the front window. No overnight parking is permitted.
Motor Cycle Parking
Free motorcycle car parking is available at:
- Longsmith Street, opposite the multi storey car park
- Hare Lane outside the former Sainsbury's
- St Michaels Square car park in designated area
Parking charges apply in all other city council car parks and on-street pay and display bays. Motorcycles are not permitted to enter or park in the pedestrian zone.
