Care Leavers

You may be eligible if you're under 21 and paying Council Tax or living with someone who does.

Do I qualify?

To qualify you must be:

  • under 21 years old and a care leaver
  • named on the Council Tax bill
  • a Gloucestershire County Council Former Relevant Child, confirmed by Gloucestershire’s 11-25 Permanency Service

A care leaver will no longer qualify for a discount from the date of their 22nd birthday, or if the council policy is revised.

 

How much will I save?

If you’re the only person paying the Council Tax bill, you will not have to pay any Council Tax.

If you live with someone else, the Council Tax bill will be reduced to 50%.

 

How do I apply?

Contact us at revenues@gloucester.gov.uk. You must include the Council Tax account reference number in your email to us and the word 'reference' in the subject of your email. For example 'Reference [Your Council Tax number]'
